Personal Experience with Information Communication Technology

Information Communication Technology is a form of knowledge which allows pupils to explore different areas of pedagogical learning to build different designs and strengthens a child’s learning capacity (Gov, 2014). From my own personal learning experiences, this has allowed my mathematical learning to be adapted and enhanced using mathematical software online (Greenhow, 2015).  Information Communication Technology is a legal requirement as part of the new National Curriculum which will be implemented in 2018.The Donaldson Report which was published in February 2015(CSCJES, 2015).Starting at Key stage one and two; it provides the child with a basic understanding of how to navigate around the information and allow children with a new way of thinking and expression (CSCJES, 2015) .However, in my personal experience there were not enough computers to facilitate each individual-learner in the classroom. Moreover, Information Communication Technology was invaluable to my personal pedagogical learning. This enabled the information source to enhance my knowledge of a specific topic by adapting the pedagogical style to the lesson objectives (Akbiyik et al, 2012).

  1. I agree with the Donaldson Report (2015) that technology will lead to a successful future within the National Curriculum. However, educators tend to fail towards technology in a classroom due to lack of skills and attitude, which may effect the National Curriculum and pedagogy (Safitry et al, 2015).

  2. I disagree; educators are able to adapt their pedagogical learning to the developing-technology (Rogers, Twidle, 2013). As throughout my education the developing technology was adapted to my learning. However, In the future teachers will be known as facilitator of the child’s teaching (Tondeur et al, 2012). Do you agree that the role teacher has developed due-to technology?

  3. I agree that the role of the teacher has developed since technology has changed dramatically throughout education. However, I believe that educators have issues with technology due to their pedagogical knowledge and approaches (Ertmer, Peggy and Ottenbreit-Leftwich, 2010).

I strongly agree with the Donaldson Report because of the wide ranging recommendations he made which will have a huge impact on teaching and education as of now and in the long term. ‘Graham Donaldson wants computer programming and IT in all classes to be as important as literacy and numeracy. To what extent do you think the Donaldson report will influence education and teaching overall?

    1. I agree that the Donaldson report will have a positive impact on education and teaching (CSCJES, 2015). The report will influence how teachers teach their lessons. However, due to the Donaldson report changing the National curriculum this will in turn affect the Early Foundation Phase (CSCJES, 2015). In my personal experience as technology develops throughout education the teachers alter their pedagogical learning to adapt to the developing technology.
