Personal experience with Information , Communication and Technology.

ICT which stands INFORMATION, COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY can be looked in different ways in terms of defining it. A good way of looking at it is considering all uses of digital technology that exist to help individuals, businesses and organisations to use information. ICT has an impact on nearly every aspect of our lives, from working to socialising, learning to playing. In my own personal experience with ICT is that from the whole of primary school it was not used at all, however as I started secondary school technology was becoming more popular and used within majority of the subjects. (Johnson et al (1986), provided evidence to suggest that cooperative learning rather than competitive or individualistic learning produced greater learning gains. They concluded that cooperative organisation of groups to carry out tasks has a central role to play in computer-based learning. Papert (1980) also provides a similar philosophy where he describes the need for children to 'absorb the computer culture', to become familiar with these tools.

  1. I agree that Information Communication Technology can be viewed in different aspects of pedagogical learning (Abbot, 2001). However, in my opinion technology is an investment in a child’s teaching (Abbot, 2001).From your own personal experiences, what technology has influenced your pedagogical-learning in your school environment?

    1. I agree that pedagogical learning can be experienced through technology in many ways, also which today plays a huge role in education. Through my own personal experience when i was in primary school technology was not being used, however through secondary school we were using a lot to influence our pedagogy and learning. For subjects like maths we would use game based learning, for ICT we would be taken to computers for the whole lesson.

  2. I agree with technology becoming more advanced during the transition between primary and secondary school. However, practitioners within my primary education were using technology regularly adapting to interactive white boards and overhead projectors (Beauchamp and Kennewell, 2008).

  3. I agree that the growth in use of technology by schools is strong now because schools are adding equipment and developing connections to the national information infrastructure at a high rate. In my opinion the use of technology in primary education has a huge impact on children's learning outcome due to the amount of equipment’s and technology there is.
